No Valentine Cookie: Photo Friday

Is Your Dog Chubby?

At eleven-years, Sydney needs to hear the word, no. He still loves to beg, although begging did not work in our house. We learned to tie him on a dog bed near the table and ignore him. But he has been keeping grandmother Winnie company.

No Cookies for Middle Age Dogs

Tips  for your middle-aged dog to keep slim and healthy.

  • more play and walks
  • less food
  • smaller meals more often
  • try a grain-free diet
  • try fresh vegetables as treats
  • cook organ meats and dry the chopped pieces

Cut to bite-size sugar snap peas, celery, apples and carrots.

Remember little dogs need tiny treats!

  1. Maya and Pierson are great about not begging too. We do not feed them from the table ever, but they do tend to get quite a few treats. We have housemates that like to give them treats. Luckily, though, they’ve listened to my cautions about too many treats and bought some healthy treats to share. Maya and Pierson are still in tip-top shape. 🙂
